Tonight we'll dance under the stars in big colorful tents to celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan!
Based on the phases of the moon, the holy month is a time to sacrifice, show discipline and experience patience as you fast from sun up to sun down. The elapsed time between these two occurences can be anywhere between 12 hours and 16 hours. But as soon as the sun goes down, there is a huge feast called Iftar!
Ramadan last for an entire moon cycle. This year there was much confusion over the last day of Ramadan due to the moons positioning; some countried believed it was in the right place and other countries did not. Nonetheless, when the crescent moon is sighted the Eid al~Fitr celebration begins! Similar to combining Christmas and New Years into one holiday, it is a time for gift giving, spending time with family and, of course, feasting!
With kind regards,
