One night only...

Will and I headed to his parent's house (they live in Jacksonville) around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. It was a very emotional time as I had to give Simba and Sheba farewell hugs. Sheba pranced around the dining room looking for food and affection while Simba decided to hide between the lining of the sofa. I tried to coax him out for about 2 minutes until I decided to turn on the vacuum cleaner. Immediately he ran down the hall looking for yet another hiding place, to no avail.

Close to 3 hours later, we pulled into his parent's driveway to the welcoming bark of D their Jack Russell. His mother had prepared oxtails, rice and peas - our favorite. Although I was extremely anxious and battling the emotions of leaving my fiance, I fell asleep rather quickly. Part of me was extremely excited to begin the new journey, whereas my logical self was calculating the transtion and the road that lied ahead.

As expected, the drive to the airport was beyond emotional! It was just him and I, the radio and the scenery. We sat in this all-knowing silence; neither of us needed to state how we felt because we knew how the other felt.  However, the saying things happen for a reason couldn't be more true than now. Will and I spent a year a part in 2009 when he took a job in South Florida and I decided to stay in Tallahassee to teach. It required a lot of sacrifice on both our parts. Devoting time to communicated and ensuring that we both felt included in each other's lives. It allowed us to become a stronger couple, honestly!

Unfortunately, Will and I didn't have a long drawn out good-bye. As I stood in line to weigh my bags and pull out items that caused my luggage to exceed the limits, the security guard approached Will and stated that he needed to leave right away since he'd dropped me off! It was so sudden. Will said he loved me, hugged me, kissed me, hugged me again, told me to smile and sent me on my way! I fell a part! I couldn't contain the tears and cried the entire time as I checked in, went through gate check and even a few minutes after I was setlled at the terminal.

I just keep thinking sacrifices leads to great success! I am so grateful to have Will; he supports my dreams in life which are based on our future life together. I'm willing to be away from him for a little while in order to supply a lifestyle for our children. (when we have them!) So, here we are again miles apart, however given the opportunity to be closer than ever. Distance is measured in numbers, but love knows no distance.

  1. My friend,

This is emotional just reading it- it has been a pleasure seeing you find and fall in love with Mr. Wright. You are absolutely right though, pearl, "sacrifices leads to great success!" Donald and I did it several times, and although it was hard, it brought us closer, strengthened our finances, and helped us both build our careers.

Continue to be strong and trust God because you and Will are on the right track to success and happiness. This will all be worth it in July of 2013 :)I am here for you- love you much!

    Xoxo,

    Fab Hicks
